Staying active through the seemingly never ending winter is a tough ask. Knowing exercise and health is valued by our employees Klarna recently established the Sport & Wellness Committee (S&W) to help solve this issue.

The aim, to provide wellness activities to those in search of an active lifestyle. By doing so the committee believes that we can create an even happier workplace. The creation of additional opportunities enables like minded individuals to make new friends, cross-department network and ideally lead a healthier life. Needless to say, it’s been an immediate success!

The committee is made up of a diverse group, members include former and reigning champions in multiple disciplines such as skiing, football and Thai Boxing to name just a few. We even have a Guinness World Record holder for being the youngest person ever to run a marathon on all 7 continents. Impressive right?

In only a few weeks, S&W have organized 6 activities with more planned to satisfy the large interest shown. To understand preferences, a survey was conducted internally which found a broad range of interests including Salsa (participants pictured below), Skiing, Climbing, Yoga, Muay Thai and MMA.

We aim to find something for everyone and this is not exclusive to physical sports. For those who enjoy eSports the committee is currently planning to hold a FIFA tournament. The finals will  be held in the atrium on our big screens so we can all find out who the Klarna FIFA champion really is.

The best part about the committee is that all ideas are welcome! We continue to be open for thoughts on future activities with the group keen to make many of those suggestions a reality. The opportunities don’t end there, for activities which the S&W committee are unable to supply, Klarna cover many sports and wellness expenses such as entry fees to the classical Swedish race, Vasaloppet and the upcoming Tough Viking which have proven to be popular in recent years. The possible reasons for not partaking in activities or events have been reduced. What are you waiting for?
